The Ondo State Government has assured residents that security agencies are working tirelessly to secure the release of a community leader, Mr Adeniyi Adelana, who was abducted by suspected gunmen in Owo Local Government Area on Saturday.
Adelana, 60, is the Baale of Ode Oriya Village. His abduction has sparked concerns among residents of the area, prompting an intensified search operation by security agencies.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, said the government had activated all available security and intelligence mechanisms to ensure the victim’s safe return.
According to him, the Police, in collaboration with the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, have launched coordinated search-and-rescue operations across strategic locations within and around the community.
Ajanaku said, “The government wishes to reassure the family of the victim and the general public that security agencies have swung into action and are currently conducting coordinated operations to secure his release.”
He added, “Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that security operatives are making significant progress in tracking the perpetrators, and we remain confident that ongoing efforts will lead to the safe rescue of the victim.”
The commissioner noted that the swift response to the incident reflected the state’s continued investment in strengthening its security architecture through modern intelligence-gathering equipment, including surveillance drones and other technological assets.
He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, saying, “Members of the public are encouraged to support security agencies with credible information. Government remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to take decisive actions to sustain peace and security across Ondo State.”
