Barely one year after taking the helm of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), its Executive Chairman, Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, has rolled out an impressive scorecard of achievements, showcasing completed and ongoing projects aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of oil-producing communities.

The projects, which span critical infrastructure and water supply interventions, were unveiled during an inspection tour across the mandate areas, with several already completed and awaiting commissioning.

OSOPADEC Chairman, Poroye Marks One Year with Project Revolution, Unveils Completed OSOPADEC Infrastructure for Commissioning

Speking during an extensive inspection tour of completed and ongoing projects, Poroye highlighted key infrastructure achievements and announced several projects ready for commissioning, describing the milestones as evidence of purposeful leadership and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s development-driven agenda.

According to him, the Board’s first decision upon inauguration on June 16, 2025, was to ensure the completion of all viable inherited projects rather than abandon them.

The tour showcased a series of landmark achievements, including the completion of the 1,000-metre concrete walkway projects at Obe-Nla, the completion of concrete landing walkways at Obe-Rewoye, Obe-Ogbaro, Obe-Magbe and Obe-Lomore, all now ready for commissioning. Poroye described the projects as part of OSOPADEC’s long-term vision to phase out unsafe wooden walkways in riverine communities and replace them with durable concrete structures.

At Obe-Nla, the Chairman hailed the project as a testament to vision, technology, engineering excellence and purposeful leadership, declaring that “development becomes inevitable where there is vision, political will and commitment.” He further announced plans to make Obe-Nla a pilot community for a proposed land reclamation initiative.

The inspection team also visited the Molutehin Mini Water Scheme, which has reached about 75 per cent completion. Poroye revealed that the contractor had already been mobilised to drill an additional borehole, assuring residents that the Governor’s directive remains that potable water must begin flowing to all communities in the region.

Reflecting on one year in office, the Chairman said the people of the mandate areas could attest to the Board’s relentless dedication to service, despite challenges of inadequate funding and project replication. He, however, expressed optimism that greater development lies ahead for the oil-rich region.

Prince Poroye commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for fostering peace, stability and development across the mandate areas, while applauding OSOPADEC engineers, contractors and host communities for their cooperation and commitment to project success.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of OSOPADEC, Mr. F.A. Omomowo, described the projects inspected as “impressive and excellent,” noting that they reflect the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of the people.

The OSOPADEC Scribe appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, for providing the enabling environment that has made such developmental strides possible across the mandate areas, while urging communities to protect public infrastructure and take ownership of government projects to ensure lasting benefits for present and future generations.
