A fire outbreak on Thursday engulfed a multi-storey commercial building housing a branch of Polaris Bank on Broad Street, Lagos Island, causing panic among residents and business operators in the area.
Eyewitness videos circulating on social media showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the building as onlookers gathered around the scene.
Emergency responders, including firefighters, were immediately deployed to the location and were seen battling the blaze while working to prevent it from spreading to adjoining buildings.
The cause of the fire had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.
Authorities had also not issued an official statement on the incident, while details regarding the extent of damage remained unclear.
