Friends and associates of former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, have called on the Ogun State Government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible for her death are identified and prosecuted.
The appeal was made by a group known as the Friends of Kitan Oyesiku in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Oluwaseun Boye.
Oyesiku and her security guard were recently found dead at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Ogun State, in circumstances that have continued to generate concern among residents and loved ones.
The Ogun State Police Command had earlier launched an investigation into the incident after reports of suspicious activities around the deceased’s residence.
Investigators who visited the scene reportedly discovered evidence suggesting a possible break-in and signs of disturbance within the property.
While the security guard’s body was found at the security post, Oyesiku’s remains were later discovered inside her apartment.
Police authorities also disclosed that the deceased’s Lexus RX300 vehicle, initially reported missing, had been recovered as investigations progressed.
Describing the late broadcaster as a gentle and compassionate individual, the group expressed grief over her death, insisting that she deserved justice.
“Kitan was a peaceful, kind-hearted and compassionate woman whose life was tragically cut short.
Her death has left her family, friends and everyone who knew her devastated,” the statement read.
The group commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and officers of the state command for their efforts so far, while urging them to remain committed to the investigation until all those linked to the crime are brought to justice.
“We appreciate the steps taken by the police and encourage them to sustain the momentum until every person connected with this heinous act is identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Boye stated.
The friends also appealed to the Ogun State Government and relevant authorities to ensure that the case is pursued diligently and not abandoned.
According to them, securing justice in the matter would reinforce public confidence in the justice system and demonstrate that criminal acts will not go unpunished.
They further urged members of the public with useful information about the incident to cooperate with investigators, noting that even seemingly minor details could prove crucial to the ongoing probe.
“We remain hopeful that the truth will emerge and that those responsible for this horrific act will be held accountable,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command had on Monday disclosed that the Commissioner of Police personally visited the scene and assured residents that significant progress was being made in the investigation.
The command also reiterated its commitment to deploying all available resources toward tracking down the perpetrators behind the killings.
