Nigerian preacher and marriage counsellor, Rev. Funke Felix-Adejumo, has advised married men against exhausting themselves in a bid to satisfy their wives, saying no husband can completely meet every expectation of a woman.
Speaking during a sermon, the cleric urged men to remain committed to their responsibilities at home but warned them against sacrificing their health or well-being in the process.
Addressing married men, she said they should strive to do their best without placing unnecessary pressure on themselves.
“Listen carefully. Do everything you can, but don’t kill yourself. Married men, I’m speaking to you as a woman. Nobody can completely please a woman,” she said.
Explaining her position, Felix-Adejumo noted that women naturally desire change and improvement, using beauty enhancements to illustrate her point.
She said women often alter their natural appearance through artificial nails, eyebrows and hairstyles, adding that if God created them with certain features yet they still seek changes, no man should expect to satisfy every desire.
According to her, husbands should focus on being responsible and supportive rather than trying to achieve perfection in marriage.
She also urged women to pursue financial independence instead of relying solely on their husbands for their needs.
The preacher encouraged wives to build their own sources of income, saying whatever a husband provides should complement, not constitute, a woman’s entire means of livelihood.
Referring to the biblical story of Esther, she challenged women to aspire to become financially empowered and capable of blessing their spouses.
“Who says you cannot surprise your husband with a Prado?” she asked.
Drawing from her personal experience, Felix-Adejumo disclosed that she presented her husband with 61 gifts when he celebrated his 60th birthday.
She concluded by encouraging women to become self-reliant, stressing that their lives should not revolve around waiting for their husbands to provide for every need.
