Yoruba Obas Laud Aiyedatiwa Over Timely Release of Five Percent Allocation to Members

Traditional rulers in Yorubaland, under the aegis of Yoruba Obas Forum, have applauded the governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his commitment to the monthly release of five percent of the local government allocation to traditional rulers in the state.

The monarchs gave the commendation while on a courtesy visit to the governor in Akure on Thursday.

The forum, speaking through its national president, the Malokun of Atijeere, Oba Samuel Adeoye Edema and the national publicity secretary, the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu in Lagos state, Oba Ganiyu Aderibigbe, said it appreciated the governor for promoting, protecting and supporting their colleagues in the state.

They said the association is on a mission to stop the abuse of Yoruba Obaship title in the country, commending Governor Aiyedatiwa for talking tough on illegal wearing of ‘beaded crowns’ in Ondo state.

Receiving the monarchs on behalf of the governor, Olayide Adelami, the state deputy governor, reiterated the commitment of the Aiyedatiwa-led government to continue to support traditional institution in the state.

He said, “We appreciate the key roles you play at sustaining peace in your respective communities. Our governor holds the traditional rulers in the state or elsewhere in high esteem.

“If you followed our campaigns before the primary election, you would notice that the governor paid homage to the traditional authority in every town we visited because he believes you are truly the custodians of our tradition and you must take a pride of place in the society “

The governor urged the traditional rulers to plead with young people in their respective domains to be patient with President Bola Tinubu and shelve the planned nationwide protests.

According to him, “Although the present federal government did not create the problems the country is currently facing but I can assure you that it has taken adequate steps, especially in food production, that will ameliorate the hardship in the country very soon”

The state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Amidu Takuro, thanked the monarchs for a seamless working relationship with the government, urging them to sustain the partnership.
