Shun night journey, over-speeding, FRSC tells Ondo motorists

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has called on motorists to avoid speeding and adhere strictly to road rules and regulations.

State Commander Samuel Ibitoye made this appeal in Akure, Ondo State, following a tragic accident in which at least sixteen people were killed in Ajue village, located between Ondo and Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area.

Allnews.ng reported that five others were injured in the crash involving a commercial Toyota Hiace bus and a Man Diesel truck, which occurred around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Ibitoye attributed the accident to excessive speeding and improper overtaking, noting that one of the vehicles may have been carrying fuel. He also mentioned that it took the FRSC approximately four hours to clear the road following the incident.

“Three male adults were seriously injured, two had minor injuries and 16 people were burnt beyond recognition.

“Though investigation on the cause of the accident has not been concluded, preliminary investigation indicated high speeding, wrongful overtake and, possibly, one of them carried fuel inside the vehicle”
