Police arrest stepfather, others for defiling wife’s 12-year-old daughter in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a stepfather, Chibuzor Benjamin, along with two others for allegedly defiling his wife’s 12-year-old daughter (name withheld) in the Ago Okota area of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Saturday, stating that two other individuals, Emmanuel Okechukwu and Sunday Akpan, were also arrested for allegedly defiling the same minor.

Hundeyin said, “One Ngozi reported the case on behalf of her niece, aged 12 years, against all three suspects of having canal views of the minor. The complainant alleged that the suspects had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the survivor since August 2024.

“One of the alleged suspects, whose name is Chibuzor Benjamin, is the stepfather to the survivor, while the other two alleged suspects reside on the same street with the survivor’s mother and stepfather.

“Benjamin and Sunday Akpan confessed to the crime, while the third suspect, Emmanuel Okechukwu, denied the allegation. The three suspects were arraigned in court for defilement 20/9/24.”

In a similar vein, the command arrested aged 35, Goodwin Femi, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Adeba area of Ibeju Lekki.

Femi allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she refused to give him money or revealed to anyone that he had defiled her.

Hundeyin stated, “On the 10th of September, 2024, at about 1300 hrs, the case mentioned above was transferred from the Elemoro Police Division to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.

“Case was reported by one Samuel’m’ on behalf of his daughter one ‘f’ aged 13 years against one Godwin Peter Femi’m’ aged 35 years, all of Adeba Ibeju Lekki Lagos.

“The complainant alleged that the suspect has been having forceful carnal knowledge of the survivor since June 2024. He stated further that on 30/6/2026, his daughter, the survivor, withdrew the sum of N20,000 from his account with his ATM card without his consent.”

Hundeyin mentioned that the victim only admitted to withdrawing the money from her father’s account after a missing phone was traced back to her.

The command’s spokesperson added that the suspect had been arraigned in court on Friday after admitting that the victim was his girlfriend.
