Police arrest woman over physical assault of two-year-old stepchildren

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Fatima Abubakar for assaulting her two-year-old stepchildren in Adamawa State.

The state police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, told reporters on Monday that Abubakar tortured the twins, a boy and a girl, in the Sanda Makama Ward of Yola South Local Government Area.

Sanda Ward, located in Yola South Local Government Area, is the hometown of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

The 37-year-old stepmother allegedly punished the children severely on Saturday for urinating and defecating in the living room.

According to Nguroje, neighbours reported the incident to the police.

“Her neighbours informed the police about the abuse. She is in our custody and would be charged to court as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Dankom Morris,” Nguroje said.
