JUST IN: Tinubu, new ministers arrive council chambers for swearing-in

President Bola Tinubu and the seven new ministerial designates and their families have arrived at the Council Chambers in Abuja for the swearing-in ceremony.

Channels TV confirmed on Monday that all seven ministerial nominees are present and seated, signalling the commencement of the event at the Presidential Villa.

Other ministers and dignitaries were also in attendance to witness the ceremony.

Notably, the usual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, typically held on Mondays, was rescheduled to Wednesday.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced on Sunday that the nominees would undergo swearing-in on Monday.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in the new seven ministers on Monday,” he stated.

The appointees include:

Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction

Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour & Employment

Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State, Foreign Affairs

Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment

Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development

Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development

Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State, Education

This follows the Senate’s recent screening and confirmation of the nominees, which came after President Tinubu’s reshuffle in response to economic challenges.

He had earlier dismissed five ministers and nominated seven new ones, while reassigning 10 ministers to different portfolios.

Tinubu’s original cabinet of 48 ministers, formed in August 2023, faced scrutiny due to the difficult economic conditions.
