The call for former President Goodluck Jonathan to return to the presidency in 2027 is gaining momentum in the northern region of Nigeria.
A northern political group, Arewa Consensus for Jonathan, has thrown its support behind the campaign, urging Jonathan to consider running in the 2027 presidential election.
During a press conference in Bauchi over the weekend, the group’s leader, Munir Musa, emphasized the importance of Jonathan’s leadership in tackling Nigeria’s escalating economic and security challenges.
Musa argued that the country needs an experienced and capable leader like Jonathan to navigate the current crisis.
“Nigeria is facing a critical moment, and we firmly believe Goodluck Jonathan is the right person to guide us through these difficulties,” Musa stated.
He expressed optimism that Jonathan’s return could help heal the nation’s divisions and lead to a period of stability and progress.
