Army Launches Major Offensive Against Lakurawa Terrorists, Destroys Camps and Recovers Weapons
The Nigerian Army has dealt a significant blow to the Lakurawa terrorist group, dismantling 22 of their camps in Sokoto State during a recent offensive under Operation Fansan Yemma.
Brigadier General Ibinkule Ajose, the Acting General Officer Commanding the 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2, confirmed that several members of the terrorist group were killed during the operation.
The troops also seized a cache of weapons, including four rifles, 409 rounds of PKT 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and 94 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
General Ajose detailed that the operation targeted terrorist enclaves across multiple locations, including Rumji Dutse, Sarma, Tsauna, Bauni, Malgatawa, Gargao, Magara forest, Kaideji, Nakuru, Sama, Sanyinna, Kadidda, Kolo, and Dancha villages in Illela, Tangaza, and Binji Local Government Areas.
He stated, “This deployment aims to consolidate the successes achieved in the ongoing precursor operation under Operation Forest Sanity III (Chase Lakurawas Out).”
The General commended the troops for their determination and urged them to maintain their offensive to eradicate all forms of insurgent activities in the affected areas.
