In a momentous ceremony, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Barr. Boss Gida Mustapha CFR, inaugurated the HOSA Table Water project at Government Secondary School Hong, Adamawa State—his alma mater.
Spearheaded by the 1974 set of the Hong Old Students Association (HOSA), the initiative aims to provide clean drinking water, combat water-borne diseases, and serve as a sustainable income source for the association, while also generating job opportunities for youths in the community.
Commending the vision behind the project, Barr. Mustapha urged other alumni sets to replicate such impactful initiatives to empower local communities and tackle youth unemployment.
The project launch was part of the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association. Speaking at the event, HOSA President, Dr. Ismaila Nuhu Maksha MFR, highlighted the association’s focus on “software investments” aimed at restoring the school’s legacy of producing disciplined and well-trained students committed to national service.
The school’s principal acknowledged ongoing challenges and appealed for HOSA’s continued support to complement government efforts in restoring the institution’s former glory.
Participants lauded the national leadership of HOSA under Dr. Maksha for their dedication and pledged their unwavering support for future initiatives. A solemn moment of silence was observed for departed members, underscoring the importance of legacy and community.
The HOSA Table Water project stands as a shining example of community-driven efforts to address critical issues like access to clean water. With its potential to transform lives and protect children from water-borne diseases, this initiative offers hope for a healthier and more prosperous future.
