Ogun gov, others mourn ex-Speaker Bankole’s mother

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; former state governor, Gbenga Daniel and Senator Solomon Adeola representing Ogun West, have commiserated with a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, over the death of his mother, Alhaja Monsurat Bankole.

Bankole died on Friday after a brief illness at the age of 79 and had been buried according to Islamic rites.

Abiodun, in a statement on Friday signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, described the late matriarch of the Bankole family as an amazon of note and a devout Muslim.

The governor described the deceased as a leader, who contributed immensely to the development of her community, while also serving as a pillar of the Bankole family.

Abiodun said, “It is indeed heartbreaking to lose yet another distinguished woman of strength and integrity in Ogun State, following the recent loss of Mrs. Adebisi Edionseri (Cash Madam).

“However, we find comfort in the legacy of piety and humanitarian service that she has left behind.

“She was not only a proud mother but also a steadfast pillar of support for her husband, Chief Alani Bankole. May God Almighty grant

Daniel, in a statement, by his media office on Saturday, described Bankole’s mother as a loving and dedicated matriarch who devoted her life to the service of her family and community.

“Alhaja Atinuke Bankole was a woman of virtue, strength, and compassion who left a legacy of love, dedication, and service. Her passing is not only a great loss to the Bankole family but also to the larger Ogun State community, where her impact was deeply felt,” Daniel stated

He further acknowledged her contributions to society as a role model and a source of inspiration to many.

He urged the former speaker and the entire family to find solace in the wonderful memories they shared with her and the enduring values she instilled.

“On behalf of my family, I extend my deepest sympathies to Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole and the entire Bankole family. May Almighty Allah grant Alhaja Atinuke Bankole eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and give you the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

Similarly, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Adeola fondly called Yayi, in his condolence message said that it was sad and regrettable that the family lost its matriarch at this time when she was still contributing to national development as a mother, grandmother and role model for young women in the society.

He said her death is not only a great loss to the family but also to the community of Muslim women, Ogun State and indeed, Nigeria.

“Alhaja Bankole was a virtuous Muslim woman who raised great children that are contributing to national development. Her demise is a great loss to her family and Nigeria” the senator stated.

Adeola prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and the fortitude for the family to bear the irreparable loss of a beloved matriarch.
