A 44-year-old woman, Kadijat Kazeem, appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, facing charges related to the unlawful possession of a human skull.
The police accused her of conspiracy, illegal possession, and tampering with a corpse.
Prosecutor Cpl. Helen Ojo informed the court that Kazeem, along with unidentified accomplices, was alleged to have retrieved the skull from a grave without authorization.
The discovery was made during a police search of her residence, which followed the arrest of her son for theft. During the raid, her husband reportedly fled, leaving her to answer the charges.
The incident allegedly took place on February 10 at around 10:20 a.m. in the Jenriyin area of Akobo, Ibadan.
Kazeem pleaded not guilty. Presiding Magistrate M. M. Olagbenro granted her bail set at N300,000 with two sureties of the same amount.
The case was adjourned to April 17 for further proceedings.
