The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Odukaye Kunle for physically assaulting his son, Boluwatife, in Otta, Ogun State.
Kunle’s arrest came after a disturbing video of him kicking the young boy went viral, sparking widespread outrage and prompting swift police action.
Confirming the arrest, Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Kunle is now in police custody and will be charged in court on Monday. Meanwhile, Boluwatife and his mother are receiving medical care at the police medical center in Otta.
“The mother and the boy will undergo further medical assessment at our police medical center in Otta. The OC Medical, Ogun State, has been directed to oversee their treatment,” the statement read.
Kunle’s arrest followed a manhunt by the Ogun State Police Command after a Facebook user, Adelere Rasaki, shared the distressing video online. The footage quickly gained traction, leading to widespread condemnation and calls for justice.
Commending the efforts of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team, Adejobi thanked the public for their concern and support in ensuring justice for the young victim.
