Police in Bauchi have arrested a 20-year-old man, Safiyanu Dalhatu, for allegedly killing his mother, Salama Abdullahi, with a pestle.
According to police spokesperson Ahmed Wakil, the incident was reported by the Peace and Security Committee in the Abujan Kwata area to the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters. A team of detectives, led by Divisional Police Officer Abdullahi Muazu, visited the scene and took the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.
Preliminary investigations suggest a dispute between Dalhatu and his mother led to the fatal attack. Police have recovered the pestle used in the incident as evidence, and the suspect is in custody.
Commissioner of Police Auwal Muhammad has ordered a thorough investigation into the case.
