The Kano State Police Command has arrested four individuals suspected of involvement in banditry and recovered a cache of weapons and cash during a targeted operation in the Hotoro area of the state.
Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Kiyawa said the suspects were apprehended on March 6 at about 2 p.m. at Chula Filling Station, following intelligence reports that they were planning to purchase an AK-47 rifle.
Led by SP Ahmad Abdullahi, the operation resulted in the recovery of three locally made revolvers, 12 live rounds of ammunition, three cartridges, two cutlasses, four knives, 24 ball bearings, charms, and a sum of N1,028,800 in cash.
SP Kiyawa noted that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
He praised the public for their continued support and reiterated the command’s commitment to curbing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
