APC urges Governor Adeleke to obey court order on LG chairpersons’ reinstatement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to comply with the Court of Appeal ruling that reinstated the party’s local government chairpersons and councillors.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja on Sunday, APC’s Osun State spokesman, Kola Olabisi, urged the governor to respect the rule of law and end what he described as political vendetta.

Olabisi stressed that governance should focus on delivering democratic dividends, upholding due process, and maintaining truth, rather than engaging in political conflict.

He criticised the ongoing rift between Governor Adeleke and his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, calling it damaging to Osun’s political image.

“We are deeply concerned about the political mockery in Osun, a state known for the intelligence and political astuteness of its people,” Olabisi said.

He noted that Osun State had been in the news for negative reasons over the past three weeks due to Governor Adeleke’s refusal to implement the court’s judgment reinstating the APC chairpersons.

Olabisi also expressed disappointment over the governor’s failure to heed advice from the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to comply with the court order.

“This ongoing political crisis clearly shows that Governor Adeleke has lost public trust and is struggling to maintain control,” he added.

The APC spokesman urged the governor to immediately implement the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on February 10, in the interest of democracy and good governance.

Defending the actions of the Oyetola administration, Olabisi said all legal and procedural steps were duly followed and described claims of procurement irregularities as baseless.

He also dismissed allegations of money laundering involving the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), stating there was no credible evidence to support the claims.

“For clarity, the $20.467 million was converted into ₦6.26 billion and credited by the Central Bank of Nigeria to the Osun State government’s account. CBN records confirm this,” he said.

Olabisi reiterated that governance must be driven by truth and lawful processes, not political retribution.

He challenged the Adeleke administration to present any evidence it has in court, if available.
