The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, for allegedly killing her co-wife, 30-year-old Asiyah Amadu, by pouring hot water on her during a domestic dispute.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the incident occurred on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area.

Asiyah suffered severe burns and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment but later died from her injuries on March 4.

Police said the suspect, Rukayyah Amadu, was taken into custody and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation. During interrogation, she reportedly confessed to the crime.

In a separate case, police are investigating the death of 22-year-old newlywed Zainab Ibrahim, who was found unconscious in a pool of blood at her home in Warware Quarters, Hadejia LGA. Officers who arrived at the scene discovered a deep cut on her throat.

She was taken to the General Hospital in Hadejia, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to track down those responsible.

Additionally, a gruesome discovery was made in Jikas-Dabaja village, Gwaram LGA, where the mutilated and headless body of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, was found. Relatives had reported him missing two days earlier.

Police suspect the killing was carried out by ritualists and have begun a full investigation.

The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public that all incidents are being thoroughly investigated and that efforts are underway to bring those responsible to justice.
