Jos court jails farmer for stealing water pump
A Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Friday sentenced a 35-year-old farmer, Muhammed Rabiu, to two years in prison for stealing a water pump from a farm.
The sentence was delivered by Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos after Rabiu pleaded guilty to the charge.
However, the court offered him an option of a N50,000 fine in place of the jail term.
Additionally, the court ordered Rabiu to pay N200,000 in compensation to the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, Inrahim Gokwat, the case was reported on February 11 at the ‘B’ Division Police Station by Surajo Umar, who owns the farm.
