Baba-Ahmed says he did no work as Tinubu’s Adviser
Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has revealed that he did nothing during his one and a half years in office.
Baba-Ahmed, who resigned as Political Adviser to the President in April, made the statements during an interview on Channels TV on Thursday.
In the interview, Baba-Ahmed explained that he did not fulfill the duties expected of him, particularly as an adviser on political matters to the President in the Vice President’s office. “No, I didn’t do any job.
I was supposed to advise on political matters, but I didn’t actually do any advising,” he said, expressing regret for not being able to contribute meaningfully despite feeling he had much to offer.
Baba-Ahmed also discussed his decision to decline President Tinubu’s invitation for a meeting, stating that he would have told the President things he might not have wanted to hear, such as advising him not to seek a second term in office. He added, “I didn’t go because I knew what I would have said, and I’m sure it wasn’t something the President would want to hear.”
Additionally, Baba-Ahmed criticized both the Buhari and Tinubu administrations for neglecting the South-East region of Nigeria.
He claimed that for the past decade, the South-East has been left without attention or support, saying, “Nobody is caring about the Southeast for the past 10 years.”
Reflecting on the current state of the country, Baba-Ahmed remarked that the reality of Nigeria under President Tinubu was vastly different from the official narrative presented by the administration.
“The difference between what President Tinubu’s people say the country is and what the country actually is today is miles apart. You have to wonder whether we’re living in the same Nigeria,” he said.
