Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has confirmed that she was recently questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding currency spraying during her daughter’s wedding ceremony.

The actress, who is also known as the Queen Mother, revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday that she honored an invitation by the EFCC after being contacted while abroad.

She stated that upon returning to Nigeria, she appeared at the EFCC’s office on Monday, May 5, 2025.

According to her, the interrogation centered on personal information, including her professional background and corporate affiliations.

However, a significant focus of the questioning was on her daughter’s wedding, which took place last month.

She wrote: “I recently received an invitation from the EFCC while I was in the UK. On my return, I went to their office on May 5, where I was questioned about my personal details, career, and more.”

Ojo disclosed that officials presented video clips from the wedding showing guests spraying both naira and foreign currencies.

She noted that while she was aware that defacing the naira was an offense, she did not know spraying any currency — including dollars — was also considered illegal.

“I was shown videos from the wedding where guests were spraying money. I explained that I thought only the abuse or mutilation of the naira was prohibited,” she said.

The actress added that she was informed spraying currency in any form, especially on individuals, violates financial regulations.

Based on this, she urged Nigerians to refrain from spraying money at events to avoid running afoul of the law.

Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla, recently got married to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux in a widely publicized celebration.
