The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has called on security agencies to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible for the abduction and killing of Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi, the party’s chairman in Ward 5, Ifon, Ose Local Government Area.
Adepoyigi was reportedly kidnapped last week at the entrance of his farm along the Ifon-Owo Road and killed on Friday after failed ransom negotiations. His abductors initially demanded N100 million but released two intermediaries who delivered a reduced N5 million after further demands for N30 million were unmet.
In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged law enforcement to intensify efforts to locate the perpetrators.
“We are still awaiting official confirmation from security agencies regarding the circumstances surrounding his death,” the statement read. “is
This act has disrupted the peace of our community.
We urge security forces to comb the forests where the kidnappers are believed to be hiding.”
Ose LGA Chairman, Clement Ojo, also condemned the killing, describing it as a tragic and painful loss.
He expressed concern over increasing insecurity in the region, noting a recent attempted abduction of another resident near his home.
“This wave of violence has escalated to an intolerable level,” Ojo stated.
“The murder of Mr. Adepoyigi, a committed grassroots leader, is a devastating blow to the community. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”
The APC and local authorities continue to call for urgent action to protect lives and restore safety in the area.
