A construction worker was confirmed dead while three others were rescued after a building under construction collapsed in the Idi Araba area of Mushin, Lagos State, on Sunday.
The one-storey structure reportedly gave way around 3:30 p.m. during ongoing construction work.
The Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that search and rescue operations are ongoing.
“So far, one person has been confirmed dead, while three others have been rescued alive,” Farinloye stated.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed the fatality.
According to its Director, Margaret Adeseye, three male adults were pulled from the rubble with injuries and were promptly treated on-site before being transferred to a hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.
