A 25-year-old woman has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her co-wife to death in Daura, Katsina State.
The incident occurred late on May 24, 2025, in the Sabon Gari area of Daura town, following a domestic dispute between the two women.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the case was reported by the husband, Nasir Yusuf.
He returned home around 11 p.m. to find his first wife, 30-year-old Zainab Lawal, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.
Police officers from the Sabon Gari Division promptly responded and took the victim to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Rabi’a Labaran, who resides at the same address, was arrested shortly after the incident.
During interrogation, she reportedly confessed to the crime, citing a quarrel with the deceased that escalated into violence.
Investigations are ongoing, while the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has called on the public to avoid domestic violence and to seek peaceful and lawful resolutions to conflicts.
He warned that taking the law into one’s own hands only leads to greater harm and undermines justice.
