Jamila Muhammad, a female pilgrim from Plateau State, has passed away while performing the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah.
The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda, announced her death on Monday night. According to Dauda, Jamila died at King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah due to complications related to diabetes, as confirmed by medical experts.
Expressing deep sorrow, Dauda, who also serves as the Amirul Hajj, said that upon receiving news of her condition, he immediately instructed the medical team to provide urgent care in line with directives from Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
Several officials and relatives of the deceased attended her funeral prayers at the Grand Mosque before she was laid to rest following Islamic rites.
The statement read in part, “From God we come and to Him we shall return.
With heavy hearts and complete submission to Allah’s will, we announce the passing of Hajiya Jamila Muhammad on Monday, June 2, 2025, at King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah due to diabetic complications.”
It quoted the Quran, saying, “And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah (Quran 4:100).”
Dauda extended heartfelt condolences to the Plateau State government, the family, and friends of the deceased, praying that Allah grants her forgiveness and eternal peace in Aljannatul Firdaws.
