19-year-old Nigerian artiste beaten to death in Ghana

A 19-year-old aspiring Nigerian artiste, identified simply as Destiny, has reportedly died after being brutally assaulted in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The incident occurred on May 28, 2025, and is believed to have been triggered by a financial dispute involving a business deal.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Destiny was accused by a fellow Nigerian living in Ghana—who allegedly facilitated his relocation and housing in the country—of misappropriating funds tied to a business arrangement.

The unnamed accuser, along with two other individuals, allegedly confronted Destiny at his residence, demanding an explanation.

When Destiny failed to provide satisfactory answers, the confrontation reportedly escalated into a violent assault. He later succumbed to the injuries he sustained.

“He had travelled to Ghana for educational purposes with the help of someone he regarded as a ‘street brother,’” a source told PUNCH Metro on condition of anonymity.

“These same people later accused him of diverting business funds and attacked him in his apartment. The beating was severe, and he died from it.”

After realizing Destiny was unresponsive, the suspects reportedly abandoned his body in the apartment.

Another source revealed that local police discovered Destiny’s body several days later after receiving a tip-off.

However, no arrests have been made as of the time of reporting.

“We were told the police found his remains, but the suspects are still at large.

We are appealing to Ghanaian authorities to investigate thoroughly and ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” the source added.

A video obtained by PUNCH Metro shows Destiny introducing himself and sharing his ambitions.

In the clip, he says, “I am Destiny, and I’m a streamer from Nigeria. I want to apply to Streamers University.

This would be a great joy for me, my mother, and everyone. I am also an artiste and a gamer.”

This incident follows the recent death of another Nigerian abroad.

In April, 77-year-old Uber driver Olatunji Bolaji was fatally shot outside a hookah lounge in Philadelphia, United States, while on duty.
