Tinubu-Sanwo-Olu reconciliation welcome relief – APC Chieftain
A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South Africa, Mr. Bola Babarinde, has welcomed the reconciliation between President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, describing it as a major relief and a positive development for the party.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Lagos, Babarinde said the resolution of the rift between the two leaders signals renewed unity and strength within the APC, particularly in Lagos State.
President Tinubu had, during a closed-door meeting with members of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council on Saturday, declared that he had forgiven Sanwo-Olu, putting to rest speculations of a strained relationship.
Babarinde, who now serves as General Secretary of the Renewed Hope Global group, said the reconciliation restores confidence among party members and supporters.
“It is a positive sign not just for Lagos, but for Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole,” he said. “Peace in Lagos means stability for the entire nation. President Tinubu has once again shown wisdom, forgiveness, and political maturity.”
He commended Sanwo-Olu’s loyalty and leadership, especially during the 2023 elections, and said any perceived missteps were likely exaggerated or politically motivated.
“Sanwo-Olu is humble, principled, and progressive.
I have known him since our school days and can vouch for his character,” Babarinde stated.
He also expressed hope that the renewed cooperation between Lagos’s executive and legislative branches will foster continued growth, urging that the state maintain its status as Nigeria’s economic hub and a model for Africa.
