Anti-Tinubu coalition eyes new Political Party named All Democratic Alliance
A coalition of opposition forces critical of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is advancing plans to form a new political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
One of the key groups in the alliance, the League of Northern Democrats (LND), is spearheading efforts to establish a broad-based political platform under the proposed name All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
According to sources within the LND, the group has been engaging with prominent national figures, including former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (retd), former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Defence Minister Lt. Gen. TY Danjuma (retd), to garner support for its initiative.
During these consultations, the elder statesmen reportedly advised the group to broaden its outreach beyond northern Nigeria to build a truly national movement.
In an exclusive interview with Vanguard in Abuja, LND Convener Dr. Umar Ardo confirmed that the group has since formed alliances with like-minded individuals and organizations across the country, working under the umbrella of the National Opposition Coalition Movement led by former Senate President David Mark.
“Based on the guidance of General Gowon, President Obasanjo, and General Danjuma, the LND has formally aligned with the National Opposition Coalition Movement,” Ardo said.
“Together, we believe the formation of a new political party is the most effective strategy for real change — the kind of change Nigerians hoped for in 2015 but never got.”
Ardo revealed that a committee set up by the coalition has already recommended the registration of the All Democratic Alliance as a new political party.
He expressed confidence that the ADA would provide a credible alternative to the APC and usher in what he described as a “ballot box revolution” in 2027.
In response to recent comments by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who dismissed the coalition as “dead on arrival,” Ardo said the minister was underestimating the movement’s potential.
“Our message to the FCT Minister is clear wait and see.
Once there is consensus within the coalition on registering ADA, it will mark the beginning of the end of the Tinubu regime in 2027,” he said.
“With God on our side, ADA will defeat the APC in every geopolitical zone in the presidential election.
That’s not a boast — it’s a promise. Wike’s understanding of Nigeria’s national politics is, frankly, superficial.”
