The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be deployed for voter accreditation during the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election, scheduled for June 20, 2026.
This was disclosed in an official notice published by the commission on Wednesday, in accordance with Section 28 (1) and (2) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).
The publication follows last month’s announcement of election dates for both Ekiti and Osun states.
According to the notice, polling will begin at 8:30 a.m. and take place in all 2,445 polling units across the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State.
INEC reiterated that only individuals whose names appear on the voter register and who possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be eligible to vote.
The commission also emphasized that voters must cast their ballots at their registered polling units.
“The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) shall be used for the accreditation of voters,” the notice stated. “No PVC, no voting.”
