Several Nigerian soldiers and armed bandits lost their lives on Tuesday during coordinated assaults on military bases in Kaduna and Niger states.
According to the Nigerian Army, the attacks targeted forward operating bases in Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka in Niger State, as well as Aungwan Turai in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The assailants launched simultaneous attacks from three different directions.
Troops from both the ground and air components swiftly responded, engaging the attackers in intense battles that led to the deaths of many bandits.
However, the Army confirmed that some personnel were also killed in the clashes.
Additionally, four soldiers sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment.
In a statement released via its official X handle on Wednesday, the Nigerian Army said, “On June 24, 2025, forward operating bases in parts of Niger and Kaduna states came under coordinated attacks. Troops responded with multiple counteroffensives, resulting in heavy losses for the bandits.
Regrettably, some of our gallant soldiers paid the supreme price, while four others wounded in action are being treated. Further updates will be provided.”
