The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has refuted claims that it sealed the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, on Monday.
A member of the PDP Board of Trustees and former National Secretary, Ibrahim Tsauri, had earlier alleged that police officers prevented BoT members from entering the secretariat, where they were scheduled to hold a meeting. According to Tsauri, the officers claimed they were acting on “orders from above” and instructed that no meetings be held at the premises.
In response, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, issued a statement describing the reports as “false, misleading, and not reflective of the true situation on ground.”
She clarified that police personnel were only stationed at the location to uphold law and order, in line with their constitutional duties.
“The FCT Police Command is aware of the news making the rounds alleging that the police sealed off the PDP secretariat in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja,” Adeh stated.
“The command wishes to categorically state that this information is false, misleading, and does not reflect the true situation on ground.
“Officers were merely deployed to ensure public safety and maintain order. At no point was the secretariat sealed off.”
She urged media organizations to confirm such reports with the police before publishing, emphasizing the importance of accurate and responsible journalism.
