Aregbesola named interim National Secretary of ADC

Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has been appointed as the Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking on the state of Nigeria’s political system, Aregbesola criticized most existing political parties as lacking substance and ideology.

According to him, many parties today are formed and fractured not over principles or policies, but merely in the pursuit of power and personal ambition.

“The ADC is not perfect, but it stands for something,” he said. “It was born out of resistance, shaped by a clear vision, and driven by leaders committed to justice, dignity, equality, inclusivity, and freedom. It has character. It has soul.”

He added, “Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many political parties in Nigeria today. What we see are platforms without ideological depth—parties that emerge and splinter based on personalities, not principles.

There’s little concern for the people and even less for the nation.”

Aregbesola’s emergence as interim secretary marks a significant move for the ADC as it positions itself as a values-driven alternative ahead of future elections.
