The Nigeria Police Force has announced the neutralisation of three armed bandits and the recovery of ten AK-47 rifles during a series of coordinated tactical operations carried out across five states.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the operations were conducted last week by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), under the supervision of the Force Intelligence Department.

The operations spanned Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States, and targeted criminal syndicates involved in kidnappings, armed robbery, gun running, and cattle rustling.

“The bandits attempted to flee upon sighting operatives but were fatally subdued following an exchange of gunfire,” Adejobi said. “Some fled with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, abandoning their weapons in the process.”

He disclosed that ten AK-47 rifles were recovered from the scenes, with forensic links to several violent crimes across the affected regions.

Follow-up operations are currently underway to track down fleeing members of the gang, many of whom have been identified as masterminds behind deadly attacks on local communities.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to national security, stating that intelligence-led operations will continue until all criminal elements are dismantled.

“The Force remains steadfast in its constitutional mandate to protect life and property across the country,” the statement read. “We urge the public to support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information through official police channels.”
