Eight individuals accused of invading the national secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abuja have been arraigned in court and remanded in prison custody, according to a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba.

In the statement, Aiyenigba said the suspects, seven men and one woman, allegedly broke into the SDP national office on Monday, July 28, 2025, where they reportedly stole sensitive administrative materials, including official documents, payment vouchers, bank books, and stamps.

Following their arrest by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, the suspects were initially held at the Criminal Investigation Department before being charged in Magistrate Courts in Karu and Kuje on Tuesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Five of the suspects—Ambo Ekpenyong, Humphrey Onwukaeze, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Chief Solsuema Osaro, and Nurudeen Bissallah—have been remanded in Keffi prison.

The remaining three—Dogara Abubakar, Comrade Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, and Judith Isreal Shuaibu—were ordered to be held in Kuje and Suleja correctional facilities.

The police prosecution team reportedly tendered the recovered materials as evidence during the court proceedings.

Efforts by Mallam Nasiru Ahmad El-Rufai to secure bail for the accused were said to have failed.

The suspects are currently awaiting further court hearings.
