Civil Service Jobs: FG shortlists candidates, proceeds to next stage

The Federal Government has confirmed the shortlisting of candidates for its ongoing recruitment into the federal civil service, following the conclusion of the application phase earlier this year.

The recruitment drive, announced in January 2025 by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), advertised over 70 vacant positions across various ministries and government agencies.

The call for applications was contained in a public notice signed by the Director of Recruitment and Appointment, Ogaba Ede.

Among the advertised roles were Administrative Officer, Planning Officer, Programme Analyst, Procurement Officer, Senior Computer Engineer, Education Officer, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Population Programme Officer, and Dentist/Dental Officer.

Other listed roles included Psychologist, Biomedical Engineer, Surveyor, Aerodrome Engineer, Computer Engineer, Geologist, Statistician, and Foreign Affairs Officer.

Applications were submitted through the FCSC’s official recruitment portal, though many applicants reported difficulties accessing the site during the initial registration period.

As a result, the commission extended the original deadline from March 10 to March 17, 2025.

Speaking to The PUNCH, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the FCSC, Taiwo Hassan, dismissed reports suggesting that the recruitment process had been stalled.

“We have not been quiet, and we have not abandoned the exercise. Work has been ongoing,” he said.

Hassan confirmed that some applicants have already been shortlisted and have received notifications, including details of their preferred locations for the upcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT).

“Candidates have been shortlisted. Those selected have been contacted via email and informed about their CBT venues and other relevant details.

It is not correct to say applicants haven’t been contacted,” he added.

Although Hassan did not disclose the total number of shortlisted candidates, earlier reports indicated that approximately 2,130 positions are being contested in this recruitment round.
