The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCT) yesterday began a seven-day warning strike to press home their demands for urgent reforms in the health sector.
The action was contained in a communiqué signed by the association’s President, Dr. George Ebong, and other executive members.
According to the doctors, the FCT health system is plagued by long-standing systemic failures that require urgent and comprehensive reforms.
Dr. Ebong noted that resident doctors in the territory are working under intense pressure, often forced to cover multiple departments due to manpower shortages.
The strike is expected to disrupt medical services across FCT hospitals within the period, with the association insisting that the government must take immediate steps to address the challenges facing its members.
