Panic broke out at a hotel in Madalla, Suleja, Niger State, on Sunday after armed robbers stormed the premises, injuring three guests.
The assailants, who struck around 2 a.m., reportedly carted away valuables and fled in a stolen Toyota Corolla before police operatives arrived.
Spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
“At about 2 a.m., a distress call was received indicating a robbery incident at a hotel in Madalla.
A police patrol team attached to Madalla Division moved to the scene, but the hoodlums escaped before the team’s arrival,” Abiodun said.
He disclosed that the robbers fled with a Toyota Corolla with registration number LRN 625 LN and other valuables.
Abiodun added that the command had launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend them and recover the stolen items.
The incident comes nearly a year after about 30 armed men stormed a guest house in Minna, the Niger State capital, on September 15, 2024.
