Kidnappers demand ₦50m ransom for pastor’s wife, church member

Families of two abducted women in Nasarawa State are in distress after their captors demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for their release.

The victims, seized on Sunday night, include the wife of a pastor and a female church member. Relatives said the women are being subjected to harsh treatment in captivity, including being forced to trek long distances in the forest without rest.

One of the victims, a nursing mother separated from her three-month-old baby, is said to be struggling with her health.

A family member described her as “emotionally broken and physically exhausted,” adding that her separation from her newborn has worsened her trauma.

During a brief phone call, she was overheard crying: “My baby… my baby. Who will help me out of this pain? Somebody please rescue me from this forest.”

Her husband and relatives have expressed shock over the ransom demand, describing the amount as far beyond their means.

Community members have also appealed to security agencies to act urgently, warning that the women’s lives are at risk.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident the same night, Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Humanitarian Services, who was abducted, regained his freedom.

The spate of kidnappings has fueled growing fear in Nasarawa communities, with residents urging the government and security operatives to intensify operations against bandits and kidnappers in the state.
