The Niger State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly kidnapping and killing a 10-year-old boy in Mariga Local Government Area.
The command also paraded three others for motorcycle theft in Kontagora.
Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Wednesday, said the case began on July 24, 2025, when the boy, identified as Yaseer Mustapha of Kwana-Mariga, was abducted while his guardian was on the farm.
The abductors initially demanded ₦3.5 million but later collected ₦100,000 and an additional ₦10,000 without releasing the victim.
Following a report to the police in September, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested one Abdulmajid Dan-Azumi, 32, whose confession led to the arrest of his accomplice, 18-year-old Abdulnafiu Usman.
“The suspects confessed to the crime and led operatives to an uncompleted building, where the decomposed body of the boy was recovered and released to the family for burial,” Abiodun said. Both men have been charged in court.
In a separate operation, police in Kontagora arrested three suspects for stealing and dismantling a Bajaj motorcycle.
The suspects, identified as Jibril Musa, 24, Ahmed Tiamiyu, and Elijah Ochoba, 20, confessed to the crime and remain in custody pending investigation.
