The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected bag snatcher following a social media post that went viral in the state.
The incident came to light after one Jennifer Emmanuel took to Facebook to allege that a commercial tricycle operator had seized her purse containing over ₦100,000.
She shared the plate number of the tricycle and urged the public to assist in tracking down the suspect.
According to her post, “If you see any Keke man with this plate number, he is a criminal.
He snatched my purse with over 100k inside and ran away. Luckily, I snapped his plate number. Please, help me.”
Although the tricycle was registered in Mubi, it was reportedly operating in Girei, near Yola, when the incident occurred.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje said in a statement that operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department acted on the information and arrested the suspect.
He added that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged in court upon completion.
