Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Osamaye, has come to the aid of a nursing mother of twins reportedly deserted by her husband in Akure.
The case was brought to her attention by the Deputy Director of Planning in the ministry, Mrs. Opeyemi Omowole, who revealed that the woman had been left to cater for her infants alone after her husband disappeared.
Acting on the report, Dr. Osamaye promptly moved to provide support for the distressed mother, assuring that the twins would not be left without care and protection.
She explained that the intervention aligns with the government’s policy of ensuring no vulnerable woman or child is left behind, particularly in cases of abandonment and hardship.
According to her, the ministry is strengthening social welfare structures and building emergency support systems to make government assistance readily accessible to distressed families.
The Commissioner also urged residents to report cases of abuse, neglect or abandonment, stressing that the government remains fully committed to safeguarding women, children and other vulnerable groups in the state.
The relieved mother expressed gratitude for the swift intervention, describing it as a reflection of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration’s resolve to uplift vulnerable women and children in Ondo State.
