The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into the death of a Canadian national, identified simply as Sullivan, who was found dead in his hotel room on Victoria Island.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of October 7, just five days after the guest checked into the hotel on October 2.
A hotel staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased was discovered unresponsive on the floor of his room after repeated attempts to contact him failed.
The hotel’s Chief Security Officer subsequently notified the Victoria Island Police Division around 4:30 p.m.
Police detectives visited the scene to document and examine the area.
A police source disclosed that there were no visible injuries on Sullivan’s body, suggesting that foul play was not immediately suspected.
The body was later moved to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where a medical officer confirmed his death.
It has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
While preliminary findings indicate no evidence of homicide, the Lagos State Police Command said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
