A 13-year-old boy has been killed by a stray bullet, while several others sustained injuries following sporadic gunfire in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The tragic incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Thursday near the Mopol Zone Junction in the Tropical area of the town.
Eyewitnesses told Daily Post that the bullets were allegedly fired by security personnel attached to a popular hotel in the area. The reason for the gunfire remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The incident sparked tension among residents, who reportedly fled the scene to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has yet to comment on the development.
