The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by terrorists.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, described the viral post as false and mischievous, saying it was aimed at inciting panic and stirring religious tension among residents.

Nguroje said the post, credited to a Facebook user identified as Lionman Lioni, was entirely baseless.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, as saying that no such incident had occurred anywhere in Adamawa State.

“The Command wishes to state categorically that the information is false, malicious, and intended to mislead the public.

No CAN chairman or any individual has been beheaded in Adamawa,” the statement read.

Nguroje urged residents to disregard the fake report and always verify information from credible sources before circulating it online.

He assured that the police remain committed to maintaining peace and order in the state, adding that an investigation has been launched to trace and prosecute those behind the false publication.

Recall that a Facebook user, Lionman Lioni, had posted on Saturday that “Adamawa CAN chairman has been beheaded by Fulani terrorists in Adamawa State Nigeria.”
