- A somber mood enveloped Okeagbe, headquarters of Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, after a yet-to-be-identified man drowned in a local stream on Wednesday.
Sources in the community told our correspondent that the victim had travelled from Lagos to attend his grandmother’s burial slated to hold in the agrarian town.
The incident, it was learnt, threw the family and the entire community into confusion, forcing an abrupt suspension of burial activities.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the tragedy shattered the atmosphere of preparation that had filled the community.
Efforts to obtain comments from the Ondo State Police Command were unsuccessful as calls and messages sent to its spokesperson were not answered at the time of filing this report.
