Operatives of the Nigeria Police Scorpion Squad have arrested a suspected transborder criminal financier in Kano, recovering ₦15.28 million during the operation.

The development was disclosed on Friday in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to Makama, the suspect, Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, 40, was apprehended in Fagge Local Government Area following digital intelligence analysis and confessions from earlier arrested armed robbery suspects, who linked him to a cross-border car-snatching network.

He said the suspect was identified as the financial coordinator for one Alhaji Abdulkarim Ibrahim, popularly known as Gabeida, from the Niger Republic, who allegedly bankrolls and equips criminal groups to steal SUVs and Hilux vehicles across several states.

Investigations reportedly showed that proceeds from the syndicate’s operations were routed through Jazuli’s bank account for disbursement to gang members, while stolen vehicles were ferried across the border into Niger Republic.

“Upon his arrest, officers recovered ₦15,280,000, which was reportedly sent to him by Abdulkarim for payment to the criminals,” Makama wrote.

Makama further revealed that Jazuli operates a small Bureau de Change business in Kano, adding that preliminary checks on his digital communication showed transaction volumes running into billions of naira between him and Abdulkarim.

Other suspects who allegedly received payments through Jazuli are said to be in custody as police continue to probe the wider criminal network.
