Operatives of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards have rescued a 14-year-old boy who was abducted along the Oweto Otukpo road in Agatu Local Government Area of the state.
The minor was freed on Friday at about 7:45 p.m. during a routine patrol, when security personnel intercepted a vehicle that appeared suspicious.
Upon sighting the patrol team, the suspected kidnappers reportedly abandoned the boy at Egla in Agatu LGA and escaped into the dark.
The victim, identified as Daniel, son of Michael and Rebecca, was taken to the Civil Protection Guards’ office in Obagaji, where he received immediate medical attention. Officials said he was in a stable condition.
During questioning the next morning, Daniel said he is 14 years old, attends Contract Secondary School in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, and is in JSS 2.
He lives at Mararaba Sharp Corner in Nasarawa State and is of Idoma origin.
He also explained that he does not know his parents’ phone numbers.
Daniel has since been handed over to the Nigerian Police in Obagaji for further investigation and efforts aimed at tracing his family.
