Traditional rulers in Ikare Akoko, under the Ikare Chief-in-Council, have endorsed the senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Olajide Ipinsagba, for a second term in the National Assembly.

The endorsement was announced at an end-of-year gathering organised by the senator’s team at his residence in Ekan-Ile, Ikare Akoko, where monarchs and community leaders converged to affirm their support for his re-election.

Speaking on behalf of the council, the High Chief of Ilepa, Ofua, commended Ipinsagba for what he described as courage, consistency and commitment to the development of Ikare Akoko and the wider Ondo North district.

Also addressing the gathering, High Chief Elemeje of Okela Ikare Akoko said the people of Ikare Akoko were solidly behind the senator, urging him to sustain his developmental drive and leave a lasting legacy. He specifically praised the electrification of Ekan-Ile community and the construction of a civic centre in Oloko Ikare Akoko, noting that the projects had improved the quality of life of residents.

Chief Elegure of Odo Ikare Akoko also lauded the senator’s interventions across the senatorial district, listing the construction of classrooms at AUD IV, Ishakunmi Ikare Akoko, the installation of streetlights across Ikare Akoko and the building of a hall at Agolo Grammar School among projects delivered under his watch.

The chiefs further disclosed that groundwork for the proposed University of Information and Communication Technology would begin next year, describing it as a major boost to educational development in the area.

Responding, Ipinsagba thanked the traditional rulers for their support and outlined planned projects, including the commencement of the Oja Oba Ikare Akoko market in January and the immediate take-off of the Ekan-Ile access road. He also announced plans to establish a creative centre in Ikare Akoko, urging the chiefs to identify suitable land for the project.

The endorsement, the chiefs said, was a reflection of the confidence reposed in the senator’s record of what they described as people-centred representation and sustainable development in Ondo North.
